Tomorrow Is A New Day--The Honey Bee Paperie

Recently, mom and I were watching the Anne of Green Gable movie with Megan Follows--It never seems to get old.
While watching it, I realized there are so many wonderful quotes to be remembered.
One particularly stuck with me and I had to share it.
I went perusing through Pinterest to find the exact quote and ran across a beautiful watercolor with the just quote I was looking for.

To purchase this print--check out this lovely Etsy shop--TheHoneyBeePaperie
And while you're there check out her other beautiful watercolors.

--Tomorrow is a new day--with no mistakes in it yet--

What a wonderful thing to remember. Tomorrow is always fresh. Always new. Always another chance to start again. A chance to try again.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

So Little Time

Wednesday is here again.
I hope every is having a wonderful week!

Lately, I've had a few unfinished projects I'm trying to catch up on.
There seems to be too many projects and so little time to finish them.
It could also be that I'm pinning too many projects instead of actually working on them. Oops.

Here is a look at a few finished projects and links to go with them!

1. Another Zipper Bag--This originally was going in my Etsy shop. However, I changed my mind and decided the owls would suit my niece better. :-)

2. Has anyone tried the Maybelline Contour Compact? I have the Light/Medium and I love it. Just a bit of color leaves you with a lovely, sunkissed glow.

3. The quilt on the bottom is my long running project. I've had the quilt batting for over a year. The fabric I used was actually two queen size sheets. This tutorial was so helpful with my machine binding.
I was so happy to have it finally finished!

New Eats & Book Giveaway

Hello and happy Wednesday!

I have three things I am pretty excited about and
want to share with you today.

1. Roasted Tomatoes--I tried these last night. Quick. Easy. Delicious. Perfect for those garden tomatoes that are coming in.

2. Avocado Tuna Salad--Also tried this last night. I changed the recipe slightly. I used diced cucumbers instead of onions. Also added sliced almonds. Yum!

3. Secrets of Persimmons Forest E-Book--I recently read this book and had to share it with you all. This is a great read for all ages. Set in Louisiana, it's tale of twin sisters with a dark secret. It's full of suspense and fun too!

Summer Jersey Knit Dress

Summertime is officially here.
 I love it.
There are so many wonderful things that happen in summer.
However, with it also comes heat and humidity.
Let me just say the temperatures can rise quickly
in the mountains of Tennessee.

To help beat the heat I love to wear sundresses,
and when I saw this cute tutorial--
I knew I had to try it!
This dress is made out of jersey knit, which I love!
For one, it doesn't wrinkle like cotton quilt fabrics.
Second, I love sewing with it.
It's much more forgiving when my seams aren't perfect.

Check out the tutorial here from Sewbon
Such an easy project!

I added a different shade of gray on the back to add some variety and paired it with a couple different necklaces to show how versatile it is!

I added a block of lighter gray on the back to give it a bit of variety.

Just Peachy

Peach.
I love everything about it. The color, the smell, the fruit.
Speaking of fruit.
There's nothing like biting into a fresh, juicy peach.
The taste for me is the perfect reminder of summertime.
Does any certain food remind you of or bring back memories of summer?
In celebration of my love for peaches and summer, I had to make a dessert that included this lovely fruit.

Check out my adventure in baking a Peach Upside Down Coffee Cake.
And check out Whole and Heavenly Oven for the recipe.

What's For Dinner #2

I picked up a copy of Make and Take by Better Homes & Gardens the other day because I was looking for some easy recipes.
And sometimes it's nice to hold the recipe book in your hand instead of looking online.

This is a fun magazine. It has all sorts of interesting (and easy) recipes to make and take to family picnics or church dinners.

Inside I picked out a couple recipes to make for dinner tonight.
Here's what on the menu tonight.

Upside Down Pizza Casserole

I used the recipe found in the link but added to the mixture black olives and mushrooms...yum!!

And for dessert..
Lemon-Blueberry Salad

This recipe was so quick.
2 packs of lemon pudding mix
mixed with 2 cups of milk.
Add 12 oz of cool whip. Mix.
Add 3 cups of fresh blueberries with 2 cups of crushed vanilla wafers.

What are you cooking for dinner tonight??

Vintage Sheet Robe

Repurposed vintage sheet.

I came across this sewing idea the other day and I fell in love.
Because I really needed another project to my list, I knew I had to make one.
...Right...

I looked on Etsy and couldn't decide on a vintage sheet. I also didn't want to buy a really pretty one when this was my first go at it.
A few weeks later I happened to find one at a yard sale.
50 cents for a full size (I think) flat sheet.
How could I pass it up?
Obviously I didn't.

Here is my adventure in making a vintage sheet into a robe.
Check out Melly Sews for her vintage sheet robe instructions.
Her robe is so sweet!
Enjoy!

This was an quick and easy project.
However, getting the fabric ready and pinned was more time consuming than the sewing part!

My aunt made this pin cushion ring for me and I love it. It makes things so much easier when you're sewing with pins!

 And it's done!

I thought the print and fabric was very appropriate for summer!

What's for Dinner?

Today instead of crafting -- I'm cooking.
Most days I'm not into cooking.
I'd rather bake any day than cook.
However, on occasion I like to try my hand at a new recipe.
The easier the better. The less ingredients the better.
So when I ran across a few really simple but delicious looking recipes on Pinterest I had to try them out.

 Here's the menu for today.
And a couple links in case you want to try them for yourself.
Enjoy!

Who doesn't love a 3 ingredient only crock pot dish?

  Seven Layer Salad
This recipe was from my grandmother. It was always a hit at church and family dinners.

Sour Cream and Chives Mashed Potatoes
Thank you Betty Crocker. You just made my mashed potato making a whole lot easier!
 &
Garlic Bread
This came from the local bakery. Walmart bakery that is. It looked wonderful!

 Oreo Fluff
I was really craving some Oreo pudding. This was even easier and just as amazing. Then again -- how could you go wrong with Oreos?

Hair Ties. Hair Bows.

It's been a rainy day here in Tennessee.
Honestly, I just don't feel like being crafty on a rainy day.
I'd rather be lazy and maybe read a good book or watch a movie.
However, I did want to feel somewhat productive today, so naturally I started browsing Pinterest.
That's the productive thing to do. Right?
Right.

I did come across these cute hair ties that I've been wanting to try.
It just so happens I had picked up more elastic ribbon the other day, so I had a nice assortment ready and waiting to try out.
If you're looking for something cute, easy, and inexpensive -- this is it!

I love how versatile these ribbons can be. You can tie knots on the ends or bows. Or you can make super cute headbands for your little ones!

Here are a couple links with easy instructions.
*HINT* Cut the ribbon with pinking shears to eliminate the frayed ends.

I decided make some headbands for my niece, then the rest will be as thank you gifts for my Etsy customers!

Camera Strap Scarves

Want to know one of my weaknesses?
Scarves.
I love them!

I know this isn't exactly scarf-wearing weather right now, however, on occasion you can find lightweight scarves to wear even throughout the spring.
Sometimes in my thrift store hunts, I am able to find all sorts of unique scarves for great prices!

I will admit, I don't just buy them to wear anymore. I buy them to make into lovely little camera straps.
Just type camera strap scarves (or click here) into your Pinterest search bar and see what I mean.

So this has been my latest DIY project.
You can make these straps out of fabric scraps, but I found a scarf to be much faster. It was suggested to me to even try men's ties. Definitely going to try that one next!

P.S. If you're interested in any of these straps, you can find some of these in my Etsy shop!

Hello Spring

Click here to find more seasonal quotes.
 Summertime.
It's my favorite season. Unless autumn has finally arrived.
Then it's my favorite. Boots, scarves, and pumpkins.
They get me every time.

Christmas comes along quickly with it's many festivities. If we're lucky the first snowfall soon after-and it's beautiful.
After so long the winter starts to look cold and bleak.

Then enters spring. It's wonderful.
Colors begin to peak through the grass, trees, and mountains. I think God must have known what He was doing putting spring after winter. New life is all around and so is the sunshine.
I believe that's my favorite part of spring. Fresh flowers and sunshine.

In celebration of spring - here is a handful of links to get you prepped and ready for the season!
Enjoy!
